COMMENTS
Comments:  The Englishman John Richard Leonard Cridland married a Danish woman, Antonie Wilhelmine Schoenheyder in 1865 and received the Dannebrogen in 1903. He was managing director of the Danish Gas Company. In spite of this undisputed connection to Denmark it is difficult to force the reading of the signature to fit this connection. "Fred. K. Cridland" would be a likelier reading than "John R. Cridland"
