COMMENTS
Comments:  In the mid-1820's Bessel made research into the movements of planets, and in connection with this research he also studied the mathematical functions which later were named after him. The "Bessel functions" have been of great importance in the fields of astronomy and mathematical physics. They can be written as power series, their values can be seen in tabular form and they can be defined as solutions to a differential equation, the so called "differential equation of Bessel".
